Norfolk Metals (NFL) has launched a fieldwork program at its Orroroo uranium project in South Australia.

The company has gained all necessary approvals to begin the work, with Geosensor Wireline contracted to conduct spectral gamma and prompt fission neutron (PFN) surveys across five priority wells at Orroroo, which lies within the Walloway Basin.

The results from the downhole geophysical surveys are expected to provide Norfolk with an understanding of the potential uranium prospectivity of the tenement and prioritise targets for future drill testing.

The Walloway Basin has never been explored for uranium, despite being the same age as sediments observed in the Frome Embayment, which is host to the Four Mile, Oban, Beverly and Honeymoon uranium resources.

“We are pleased to be commencing work on time and within budget at this initial exploration phase,” Executive Chairman Ben Phillips said.

“We look forward to updating the market in the very near term on our findings.”

Due to the nature of the program, Norfolk said it expected a quick turnaround on results.

Norfolk Metals was up 3.03 per cent and trading at 17 cents at 3:02 pm AEDT.
