Solis Minerals (SLM) has commenced a maiden drilling program at its flagship Jaguar lithium project in Bahia, Brazil.

The program is designed to test the extent of Jaguar pegmatite along the known strike length of 1.4 kilometres, providing a better understanding of the structural controls and mineralisation.

Solis inked an option agreement over the project at the beginning of June, before announcing it was raising $8 million through a placement to fund exploration.

“It’s an extremely exciting time for the company and its shareholders, as we drill at a previously under-explored pegmatite in what we hope will become Brazil’s next major lithium province,” Solis Minerals Executive Director Matt Boyes said.

The initial program is expected to take around 90 days.

Solis was up 15.8 per cent, trading at to $1.10 at 11:32 am AEST.
