Dual lithium-uranium explorer Infini Resources (ASX:I88) has shrugged off sector-wide blues to announce the discovery of seven lithium geochemical anomalies at its Paterson Lake project.

The company found these across 3 greenstone targets in an area where historical drilling nearby confirmed lithium in core.

These new assets were found on the back of a multi-layered exploration campaign including magnetics, desktop studies and soil sampling.

Early days for exploration

A further refined 3D geomodel suggests lithium mineralisation is associated with ancient volcanic activity underground.

Strike lengths remain small in these early stages – a prospect called Marko boasts a strike of 268 metres while Jesse’s sits lower at 190 metres.

The company, however, is confident it’s early days.

Management comment

“The range of high-quality data collected at Paterson Lake reinforces our aim to generate numerous exploration targets,” I88 CEO Charles Armstrong said.

“The identification of seven large lithium anomalies is a very positive sign.

“The company believes it is in an enviable position where there is a combination of advanced targets for follow-up drilling at Marko’s and maiden drilling at Jesse’s.”

Follow-up exploration will move on to mapping and infill soil sampling to find new outcrops.

Infini reminded this morning that its acreage remains “highly unexplored” with historical drill results leaving the geotech team bullish they’ll eventually make a substantial find – lower lithium prices be damned.

However, the company did disclaim on Monday – rightly so – historical results do not confirm future success.
