Gold Road’s “best ever” hit

The best intersection ever, screamed Gold Road Resources (ASX: GOR).

Given some of the genuinely spectacular drilling results generated in the Australian mining industry in recent decades, Diary thought this was a big call – until it became clear that Gold Road was in fact restricting the comparisons to drilling at its Gruyere gold project in WA.

And by that order, it was indeed an outstanding result, measuring 781m at 1.29gpt from just 22m.

The market certainly liked it, with the stock rising nearly 13% on the day to close at 35.5c, extending its recovery from 20c just before Christmas.

Gold Road noted that the extension of known mineralisation to a vertical depth of 750m opened the door to large-scale underground development opportunities below the open pit, which is the subject of a scoping study.
