Martin Aircraft taking off for Paris Air Show

Tuesday April 21, 2015: Martin Aircraft Company (MJP), the jetpack developer whose shares have gone up and down like, err, a jetpack, has got a gig at the Paris Air Show in June.

The recently-floated company said today it would introduce the latest model of its Martin Jetpack to the global aviation community and provide simulator demonstrations.

Diary assumes this means that conference delegates who were hoping to get a free ride over the Paris landmarks will be disappointed, particularly given that Martin promotes the ability of its backpack to land on roof tops.

Martin shares, which were priced at 40c in the float, soared to more than $1.70 early on and are now hovering around 90c, giving the company an astonishing market capitalisation of around $220 million.

Commercial jetpacks are no longer the domain of science fiction, Martin MD Peter Coker says.

Nor, it seems are big share market valuations for companies still in the development phase.
