Feb 10 (Reuters) - Newcrest Mining Ltd (NCM) :
- Contact established with trapped employee at gosowong (NCM)
- Confirm that at approximately 10am today local time we made verbal contact with Pak Mursalim Sahman who is trapped underground at the kencana underground mine
- "We are now preparing to send down additional water and food as well as a communication link"
- Says contact was established via a small diameter hole drilled through 54 metres of ground to where pak mursalim is located
- Lot of work remains to be done to get Pak Mursalim out safely
- Says "cause of the incident will be the subject of a full and thorough investigation"
- All mining and processing operations remain suspended"
- Says "not able to give a timeframe at this stage on when we expect to extract him"
- Says "Indonesian mines inspectorate arrived at site"
