Because the majority of people, greedy, gullible and ignorant Director. And so it will continue ....... particularly in those cultures where the status of women is low.
1400 years? No. The written history of the ME region goes back abot 6000 years ....... and over that period nothing much seems to have changed ..... other than the name of the God(s). The concept of one primary god was not the exclusive domain of the Jews. It was even taken up by Pharaoh Akenaten about 1300BC.
There have been so called "golden ages" of Islam (where tolerance and innovation reigned) interspersed with dark ages. Political imperatives typically determine which parts of any particular theology are cherry picked ..... and the gullible and the psychotic (e.g. Balardi) then just follow the line of a political state IMHO. Gosh .... this is sounding Marxist so I'll leave it there.
