Interesting, though 1975 as the probable "end" was not confined to the JWs.
From at least the early 60's, the Herbert W and Garner Ted Armstrong's via " The Word Tomorrow" radio church of God, were saying 1975 was it and a very convincing argument it was.
I can only presume that higher powers have delayed the usual cyclic "end", while our now global civilization becomes more and more balanced on a knife edge of reliance on technology.
Self sufficiency is increasingly rare, food production and distribution relies on technology as does governance etc.
Our sovereign Lord, the Sun, has been asked to hold off with his periodic "Grand Solar Flare", until almost complete organic life annihilation can be assured.
Our Earth Mother, Nature, is never happy with all the extra work this brings, but such "resets" are needed periodically, or things just go silly.
