might be old news to some but I just learned Abbott (the alleged 'Christian') scrapped the 20% medical expenses tax offset
who claims this but those with lower income who have no health insurance and have
probably become suddenly ill, such as unexpected cancer
obviously not too many people claim it but only those that really need it
probably only a relatively small return for them but it sure helps them
I read $500million was claimed in 2011 for the medical expenses offset
yet Abbott and Hockey want American & other foreign company to be allowed avoid all kinds of taxes
for example, recently, it appears Healthscope pay no tax for 4 years when its American owners appeared to stack the balance sheet with debt, resulting in zero profit due to interest expenses (see prospectus), seeming to avoid around $150M in tax and earning a cool 30% on the lent funds
