Thanks for your informative post. It started the clogs in my mind going into action mode.

Hypothethically.........

After I read your response, I started thinking to myself as to whether it just might be possible that the delay in sending the design/masks etc etc by Socionext to TSMC and silence from the Co of late on this issue, could it be that BRN and Socionext's involvement in producing chip's may have somewhat changed. I was wondering whether BRN with Socionext assistance may / could be considering putting in 2 orders for say the 28nm Chip and possibly a 5nm chip ..... maybe Socionext has informed BRN that whilst doing the design developments on the 28nm they felt confident that they could now also replicate it on a 5nm as well with Anil's involvement and guidance. I'm thinking, that imo surely the like's of NASA & Renasas would have had this size issue discussed with BRN at some stage.

Accordingly, we all know that "SIZE" does matter in circuits boards and the space it takes up on a board is of paramount significance and costs.

I would love to see an announce come out to the effect that TSMC now has the designs from Socionext to produce both the 28nm and 5nm Chips.
