The only positive I can think of for no binding contracts is if there are binding contracts it limits the attractiveness for a very big buyer from taking it over and having exclusive rights to the products. As well, there would be one company in particular that wouldnt care about Android accessibility. A long shot I know, but maybe there is a lot going on behind the scenes. I know I'm living in a fools paradise, but just sayin.
