- throw a blanket on her - walk at her with a pillow - knock the knife out of her hand with a broom - use a net to shroud the knife - call her family to talk to her on speaker? - depending on the level of demntia , giving her some toast to butter with said knife may have been enough of a distraction- im not being funny btw.
the only thing i cant understand is why they were called in the first place- perhaps she was threatening another resident that was in an unsafe position. this might make things a little different. But from the initial report she was using a zimmer to approach police.
but hey , they followed the rule book, in fact if theyd done any of the more commonsense things above theyd be in hot water for using some common sense instead of ' following procedure'
i sometimes wonder when i go night fishing and am carrying a bait knife that i may get the rough end of some psycho cop who has had a bad day. theyve certainly become a little more edgy.
