It's good that you use examples of other groups that make up your friendship circle and many of those mine to but to use a comparative example. Italians for example you don't pigeon hole them and label them as one in the same because of the Mafia in the country do you ? Same with the Vietnamese that were front and centre of the roaring drug trade in the 90's did we class all Vietnamese as one and the same ? You can do it with basically any ethnic group on arrival and usually takes years before it settles.

FWIW basically every ethnic group you have listed was once targeted as muslims are now by little fringes of society - it takes time for integration - it never happens overnight.

Trust me if their was a violent protest by the catholics in the middle of Sydney the alpbc would whinge about it for years. By the way there would never be a violent protest in the streets by catholics but it's only a matter of time before there is one by the muslims. Someone has only to draw a cartoon and off they go again.
