A second former NZYQ detainee arrested in Western Australia this week was out on bail on aggravated robbery charges as fallout from the immigration debacle deepens.
Another immigration detainee has faced court for alleged violations of his visa conditions in Western Australia.
Kimbengere Gosoge, a 42-year-old man from Burundi, was arrested by Australian Federal Police earlier this week for allegedly breaking his curfew and tampering with his ankle monitor.
It became the second incident this week involving a detainee from the NZYQ group of 154 former detainees released following a High Court ruling in November.
t has been revealed the East African man had also been on bail over an alleged violent robbery in which a man in his forties was held against his will, threatened and assaulted by two attackers.
As a result, he has faced charges of aggravated robbery, deprivation of liberty and assault occasioning bodily harm.
While Gosoge should have been returned to immigration detention, the Western Australian authorities failed to alert the Australian Border Force of the charges, according to the Herald Sun.
