If memory serves me correctly, labor supporters have cried foul for many years at any sort of middle class welfare and even worse if wealthy people receiving a government funded hand out.
Now you seem to be saying that those who get a generous parental payment from their boss are now so hard done by because they may not be able to get even more from taxpayers. If Labor had brought in this policy would you be praising them for reducing middle class welfare?
I should add that I think the government's choice of words such as "rort" is unfortunate as it is the system has allowed for double dipping and not wrong doing by those who have taken it.
