I can't believe it, as for once, I agree with you. I thought Tony's declaration that Japan is our best friend, was way over the top, and would have offended a great number of returned soldiers.
But it just clearly demonstrates how Australia has become so beholden to Asia for its fiscal future and welfare, a process that began approximately two decades after the end of WW11, with the rise in the commercial strength of Japan, and the emergence of the European Common Market economic block both of which drew us, at least in the economic sense, away from Europe and towards Asia.
