There is no way the Liberal party are going to allow Abbott to an election defeat, they may allow him IMO 1 year to turn the polls around but if he hasn't done so by then they will dump him. No point going to an election knowing you are going to lose.
I actually think the libs will give him less time, may be a few months. Would probably work for them to dump Abbott before the May budget and have a complete reset then
