The Bolt Report virtually lives off bagging the ABC is self evident but imo it would not work until now maybe, by beating up this story into being something more than it ever was. IMO News Ltd wont work at winning the ABC viewer because they are mainly left leaning anyway and don't want to read or hear of Right wing politics or tabloid style rubbish, because they prefer to read and hear about Left wing Tabloid rubbish.
I'm no left winger and I have a bone to pick with the left wing Unions of 1970's who organised the death of a friend of mine Paul Krutulis in a corrupt NSW, but I enjoy the ABC programing and probably watch more ABC than Channel 10, 9 or 7 preferring to watch programs like Janet, King, Jack Irish, Doctor Blake, Foyles War when they had it, Rake, etc I even liked Insiders except some of the left wing inclined rubbish it prattles on about sometimes with the Guardian News Editor prattling on continuous dribble...why are ABC helping a commercial paper worse than the failing Age Newspaper. I used to enjoy Lateline and Four Corners until I noticed Emma Alberachi stuff up her interviews with tabloid rubbish ..not choosing qualified interviewees who really knew anything about what they were talking about and misrepresenting the topic, its gone down hill but some loyal viewers might not have noticed probably.
I have enjoyed The Bolt Report having followed Bolt for years when I had time to read his stuff. I even emailed him once to advise my amazement that Rupert Murdoch would allow him to speak his mind like he had in Herald Sun Column but more recently maybe over last 2 years I have noticed a Tabloid style creeping in by bagging the ABC in a vain attempt to try catch some of the ABC Viewers and ratings I would suggest. This imo will not work and debases the old style which won him his following. You cant win Lefties for Tabloid rubbish...they like their own left wing rubbish is my opinion.
The problem as I see it News Ltd s having trouble with getting new customers and thinks that by rubbishing the ABC and this Q&A opportunity might help it lift its customer base by trying to destroy the ABC in their apparent moment of stupidity. Well i'd really like the Q&A bring Noam Chomsky onto a panel or even on his own but I heard the ABC wont dare invite him on because he is an ANARCHIST but I must admit to liking his ideas about Manufactured Consent but no Australian current Affairs program will dare invite him to Australia.
So in so far as the Q&A inviting Mallah onto ABC Program is simple ...he was not in jail, he had not been convicted only charged with offences he admitted to have been silly to make and he could not be convicted because our own parliamentary representatives are plainly stupid not to have laws in place to cover such eventualities but prefer to wait until a terrorist type activity occurs because in a knee jerk reaction decide to create new laws. Mallah was not in jail because it was not an offence it would appear at the time he made his alleged threats. Had he made those threats today then he would have been in jail for a long time and would not have been free to attend in the audience.
CIOBO made an excellent motherhood style statement response to what Mallah has stupidly said in anger on the program and which could have been misheard because there were two ways you could interpret what he had said if we all had the opportunity to hear a replay. I'd never hear of this CIOBO guy but as far as the Muslim guy they all look the same with their beards had no idea who he was but now we know about both. I'm not sure that Q&A had made such a bad censorship mistake as the one I charge them with by not inviting Noam Chomsky to an Interview in Australia because they really don't have the democratic b....s to do it.
Reality is Mallah & ABC did both CIOBO and the govt a great political service in the way the whole saga unfolded with TONY ABBOTT & News Ltdcreating a story out of nothing much and CIOBO becoming better known without anybody realising that the govt legislation was faulty otherwise the ABC would have been advised NOT to interview Mallah.

Gillys, I applaud you for having the independence and courage to speak your mind without feeling the need to fit into the general narrative of this thread. Also refreshing to hear views that are not beholden to tired notions of "left" or "right". Too many people think that it's more important to choose a side (like choosing a footy team) than it is to explore ideas and contemplate perspectives.
