I had roof panels and batteries, a dozen in series. They were good and gave me power when the mains cut out, which is very important as I am in a fire prone area and I need to work a fire hose, and my bills plummeted. That is until one battery failed and I had no warning until the next electric bill arrived. I replaced a battery and back to normal until another one went. Now I have a different storage system which did not come cheap. Despite promises, I cannot use the battery power if the power line is out, so I don't have water pressure. I do have a petrol pump though. My main reason for going solar was to have power during a main supply blackout, we have a single phase supply. Solar and batteries may reduce the power bills but may not necessarily save the installation cost.
