What amazes me is that alarmists consider the 4w/m/m forcing from every doubling of [CO2] to be significant, considering the above. We've roughly doubled [CO2] since the industrial revolution, meaning that we have increased forcing by ~2w/m/m (disregarding the logarithm). So, alarmists declare that an extra 2W/m/m, added to the normal 1000W/m/m (which fluctuates to the scale that causes 2W/m/m to be insignificant), has caused global boiling...
Fluctuations in solar radiation of ~ 10% of the forcing attributable to increased [CO2] occur regularly. Add the chaos of the hydrological cycle to the mix for some perspective on the declaration of the alarmists. The result is that statistically, the noise of the system is too loud to measure a peep from the 2W/m/m forcing from anthropogenic CO2.
