    Thanks @shovel40, @Fiji1, @Patterns and morning crew.

    Half-time wrap:

Aussie shares overcame early weakness to reach the halfway mark little changed as a US market holiday slowed the global money-go-round.

At 1 pm AEDT, the ASX 200 was up a point or 0.01% after earlier dipping 21 points. Gains in energy producers, telcos and some of the banks were offset by declines in most of the bulk metal miners, Transurban and CSL.

Uranium was the flavour of the month at the speculative end of the market. White Cliff Minerals jumped 20% after securing a uranium project in Canada. Juniors Cauldron Energy and T92 surged 43.24% and 33.33%, respectively. Further up the food chain, Paladin Energy gained 10.37% and Boss Energy 6.97%.

Wall Street closes tonight for the Martin Luther King Jr public holiday. On Friday, the major indices finished mixed but little changed as a decline in wholesale inflation soothed doubts about the outlook for rates as consumer inflation remains stubbornly high.

Personal trading: My objective the first day back after a break is to avoid doing anything expensive. Got something from a part-fill CP trade in VSR before a big sell order landed.
