Agents commission in the USA is circa 6% eek.png. Agents' commissions in the UK are circa .75% smile.png. Now let's talk about Australia. Since agents' commissions were deregulated in Oz, and therefore negotiable, some agents have taken advantage of the situation, particularly in regional areas - never mind that (generally speaking) property prices have doubled, and in some cases tripled over the last decade. While in Melbourne and Sydney agents are quoting/negotiating circa 1.5%/2% for anything over $1 million, regional agents are quoting circa 4% for the same category; relying on the ignorance of vendors right to negotiate. Note: commissions do not include advertising costs.
That said, with the high cost of RE, anyone paying more than 2% commission is being robbed, and they need to learn how to play hardball in the negotiating process, given competition for listings are at a high level in the current environment.

In any case, I thought agents' commissions an interesting discussion point outside the social media propensity of childish squabbles So, it would be interesting to hear folks' opinions, preferably without the usual combative insults, which helps no one.
