    Despite numerous calls from farmers and livestock industries across the country to place a temporary travel ban on travel to and from Indonesia, the government continues to sit on its hands.

    An $80billion livestock industry hangs in the balance as Albanese's government refuses to act to protect farmers and their livestock from foot and mouth disease infection. What is the government waiting for, a detection in livestock cattle? or worst a detection in the feral livestock population in Australia?

    For a bloke who campaigned against the former government always doing 'too little, too late' it appears to many that he's simply an hypocrite as he continues to do the same...


    Foot and mouth disease detected in meat products brought into Australia as the government ramps up biosecurity measures

    The Agriculture Minister confirmed that viral fragments of foot and mouth disease had been found in a beef product brought in by a traveller from Indonesia and pork products for sale at a Melbourne supermarket that were imported from China.


    Foot and mouth disease has been detected in meat products being brought into Australia from both Indonesia and China.

    "...The contagious viral disease of livestock has not occurred in Australia since 1872 but fears have grown it could cause an $80 billion hit to the national economy if detected.

    Agriculture Minister Murray Watt confirmed on Wednesday that viral fragments had been found in a beef product brought in by a traveller from Indonesia.

    A routine surveillance check also found viral fragments of both foot and mouth disease and African swine fever in pork products for sale at a supermarket in Melbourne CBD..."
