    I was a bit surprised with the recent ‘unexpected sales’ comment and the real positive outlook for Alusion sales in FY2019. I started digging around with a few google searches to see if I could work out what was driving these sale increases.

    For those new to the stock, Merck have exclusive rights to sell and market Alusion in the cosmetic industry.  We know Merck basically purchase Alusion and without any further value adding, market it as Ronaflair White Sapphire.

    The last four half yearly sales figures to Merck are $157,329, $288,338, $555,970 and $674,585 so there has been a steady increase in sales over the last two years. The marketing presentation shows anticipated sales of $1.75M for the full FY2019 with a footnote that further sale increases expected in the financial year.

    Without giving a history lesson, a few years ago the relationship soured with Merck. One of the factors was ANO struggling to deliver on time or within agreed specifications. Merck were not game enough to actively promote the product given how unreliable we were as a supplier.  With good systems in place and product being tested before it leaves our shores, these problems appear to have gone away.   Thank you Geoff and team!

    The International Nomenclature of Cosmetics Ingredients (INCI) has classified Alusion as “Synthetic Sapphire”, hence the name Ronaflair White Sapphire.  Merck have recently introduced two new products to their range called Ronastar Flaming Lights and Ronastar Golden Lights. Both of these products are using Synthetic Sapphire as their major ingredient.  Both @vestro and I believe they are using Alusion in these two new products however I have not had it confirmed.  It might however explain the sales growth.     The Centre for Merck Pigments and Functional Materials Innovation and Applications was officially opened in July 2017. The centre is located in Jinqiao Development Zone, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, and aims to accelerate the application development process and provide better technical support to local customers.
