According to the figures I've heard announced the last few days, SS = 150B. Looked up newstart figures and they are under 800K, so 800,000 X 1000 (monthly allowance +- ) X 12 (months) = 9.6B according to my calc, whch is a fraction of the 150B. (around 6.4%)
A few points.
Wonder how much goes to the connected entities around the unemployed (and we have heard stories here lately as well)
Heard lately that 80% of families received some sort of SS during the period 2000 to 2010.
Would be interesting to see a full breakdown of where these $'s go.
