Yeah. That sounds like the ASIC we know, an unacountable failed regulator with all the competence, vigour and intelligence of Chief Wiggum, Officer "Nothing to see here folks move along" Bar Brady and the Inspector Closeau as their role models.

I can imagine the reply from ASIC to the CDU administrators:

"We're the regulators, why can't you guys do all the work and build a case and then serve it up on a platter so that our lawyers will most likely lose, but if we do win we will take all the credit."

I reckon ASIC is beyond redemption, not even a royal comission will save them, it's not until a shareholder action group somehow wins an extremely large amount of money in court that will focus the government's attention to do something about ASIC.
