I used to ride my pushbike to school ( country nsw)- 6 kms -, and in breeding season, was often attacked by maggies., flying from opposite directions , ...clever feathers .I wore sunnies and a ( toy ) helmet .When i was about 9 out rabbit shooting, after hours not finding anything , i shot at a seemingly impossible target, a maggie so far away. I killed it.I felt so bad.Still regret it.
I have for decades now fed and cared for maggies in my area.If i leave my back door open i will sometimes find a young maggie in my kitchen , looking up , asking for a feed.
They are wonderful birds.
