    David Pocock says he'll donate his $300 energy bill credit

    Independent senator David Pocock says a $300 rebate on energy bills for all households doesn't make sense as a cost-of-living measure, and that the money would be better spent on the electrification of Australian homes.

    He says he doesn't need the rebate and will donate it.

    "I was chatting to my wife last night about donating it, so I'd be happy to do that," he told ABC radio Canberra.

    "The thing I would have loved to have seen is more targeted relief for people who need it, but then investing in electrification, to ensure that people aren't left behind."
