well, how about this one ------------ instead of sinking a trillion on a sub project which pays america to park their tin cans in australian waters so they can muscle and annoy china to slow it down as an economic competitior
instead of that expense ------------- we might have funded the entire developent of the NW gas fields for probably about half the price -
and be reaping ALL of the profits ----------------------- that's a surplus - a whopper, every year
out of that surplus, we build social housing, we feed people, we have better health care, we educate the Ozzie population - we do like the big kids to and have free education - right through to tertiary, all levels
even for foreigners - who we put on one condition. After finishing Uni - be it grad, be it Phd or any level - they stay in Oz and work for a minimum of 10 years --------- and if they can't fit that condition - then they pay back an enormous bond which they paid up front to come to Oz and get their education
if they do their 10 years - their bond is returned in full
at the same time one 'seeds' new industries - to 'absorb' those graduates
and that's how you create not only a surplus - that's how you create a nation
all it requires is --------------- an understanding of nation building, a communal attitude and heaps of guts
