If you are going to go to all that trouble of sample prep then you may as well do a more reliable cheaper traditional fire assay for gold anyway.

Its just a giant non-portable XRF anaylyzer with all the same sample prep limitations as current hand held XRF analyzers so it dosen't look game changing to me at all and would be useless in a coarse nuggety gold system such as the Pilbara conglomerates until you completely pulverize the sample to a powder.

Its not game changing technology, its interesting and worthwhile pursuing in the future, sure, but at the moment it isn't helpful for gold exploration.
