Agreed. $273m remediation costs and $114m non-cash impairment charge on the heap leach seems manageable given net cash of $236m and ongoing cashflow from other operations. No surprise they would write off any future heap leach operations and focus on the sulfide plant. I’m sure the government will create some roadblocks, but if they do a proper job on the remediation and compensation the approvals to restart the sulfide plant could be within reach in the next 6-12 months.
Would be interesting to know how Lidya Mining are funding their 20% of costs given Çöpler was their only producing asset. Potentially an opportunity for SSR - but not without risk in the current setting.
