And if I didn't know better I'd say last weeks next week is, well, this week? Aint it? :-)

For any that want to know the why and how of going from zip to resource estimate in a matter of months can be achieved then I direct you towards the previous efforts of KWG Resources who were like white on rice all over Pilar in the mid 90's..

According to earlier announcements there is every chance of the odd hit being reported as AAU drill out the current extent of the oxide cap. :-)

Trench results tabled below.. Not bad & no deeper than 1.5m thank you very much . hehe

KWG preparing to drill Cuban property

Trenching on the Gaspar property in west-central Cuba is revealing a significant zone of gold mineralization.

Four trenches have been excavated on the property, which is a 50-50 joint venture between KWG Resources (TSE) and Cuban state-owned Geominera. Trench 1 returned average values of 2.1 grams over 250 metres, including an 8-metre interval averaging 29 grams gold per tonne. Geochemically anomalous values in Trench 1 extend a further 86 metres to the north and 125 metres to the south, in areas as yet unsampled.

The other trenches returned 3.79 grams gold over 166 metres, 1.35 grams over 58 metres and 1.5 grams over 58 metres.

The trenches are the first of eight that are testing the 10-km-long Gaspar zone, where microfracturing in the host volcanics is associated with epithermal gold mineralization. The gold appears to be concentrated in the matrix of rhyolite-dacite breccia, with the amount of gold proportional to the degree of brecciation. These early results confirm earlier geochemical test results.

KWG is also carrying out soil geochemical sampling and rock sampling, and has started a 3,000-metre program of diamond drilling.

At presstime, KWG shares had hit $14, after having traded at $7.50 the previous week.

MONTREAL, Feb. 27 /CNW/ - KWG Resources Inc. states that the company has received extremely encouraging new trenching and metallurgical results from to a depth of 1.5 metres averaged 5.6 g/t Au over 82 metres, significantly higher than previously reported trenches taken from surface. In addition, five higher than previously reported trenches taken from surface. In addition, five larger samples taken from these trenches averaged 12.7 g/t Au.

More gold found at Gaspar project

The Gaspar gold project in Cuba has yielded more mineralization for operator KWG Resources (KWG-T).

The latest results of reverse-circulation drilling on the property’s El Pilar prospect include: 60 metres of 3.02 grams gold per tonne; 74 metres of 2.29 grams; 43 metres of 3.31 grams; 16 metres of 3.82 grams; 7 metres of 4.61 grams; 5 metres of 3.41 grams; and 17 metres of 1.46 grams gold.

Results released in November were lower, though one hole yielded 22 metres of 8.33 grams gold.

This prospect was drilled on 25-metre centres to a vertical depth of 150 metres. KWG reports that the mineralization can be found at a depth of about 50 metres, and over an area measuring 100 by 450 metres. Anomalous gold and copper values extend to depth.

The deposit remains open to the south and west. Further trenching and infill drilling are scheduled for January.

The Gaspar property consists of an 8-km-long-by-2-km-wide,

northwest-to-southeast-trending region of felsic, volcanic tuffs and agglomerates. The company believes that El Pilar is an epithermal-type gold deposit. Underlying copper values of 1% to 2% suggest the possibility of a deep-seated copper porphyry system. Recent diamond drilling beyond the depth of reverse-circulation drilling has tested this possibility. Assays are pending.

LATIN AMERICA — KWG hits impressive gold vales in Cuba

Recent drilling is enabling junior to arrive at ore reserve calculation Reverse-circulation (RC) holes drilled by KWG Resources (KWG-T) on the Gaspar concession in central Cuba show impressive gold widths and grades.

Hole 271 averaged 40.29 grams gold per tonne from surface to 41 metres, including 68.26 grams gold for the first 24 metres. Other holes testing this structure on the same section include hole RC-90, which intersected 8.33 grams gold over 22 metres. On the next section, 20 metres to the north of hole RC-94, results averaged 3.02 grams over 60 metres. New hole 267 averaged 2.78 grams over 19 metres, and hole 268 averaged 2.08 grams over 27 metres, all on the same structure.

Hole 269 intersected 2.9 grams over 70 metres, including 11 metres (from 46 to 57 metres down), which averaged 17.34 grams. Among other previously announced holes that tested this structure on the same section is RC-96, which averaged 2.29 grams over 74 metres (including 13.68 grams over 11 metres). On the next section to the north, hole RC-2 (18.99 grams gold over 12 metres) intersected this same structure, while two new holes on the next section to the south include 272 (3.35 grams gold over 15 metres) and 273 (12.3 grams over 4 metres).

These RC holes were completed as part of an in-fill drill program being carried out in order to calculate reserves. Four previously announced trenches in this immediate area encountered surface mineralization averaging 5.6 grams gold over 82 metres. As well, five 100-kg samples selected from this same area averaged 12.7 grams in cyanide leach tests.

Once all of the drill results are in, KWG will complete its ore reserve calculation. A bulk surface sample for an on-site cyanide leach test is being excavated.

Company geologists believe they have intersected two (possibly three) auriferous zones of the feeder system to the Pilar deposit. These zones wander and merge but generally strike northwestward; they are sub-parallel to each other and dip eastward at moderate to high angles. These zones are traceable by trenching and drilling across several drill sections. Gold grades are variable along each zone.

According to KWG geologists, the Pilar region of the Gaspar concession has two controlling systems of mineralization: an 8-km-long,

northwest-To-southeast trend along which all the known mineralization to date has been found; and crosscutting mineralized faults, apparently hosting hydrothermal breccias. Where these two structures intersect, economic concentrations of gold mineralization may be encountered. Thus far, five such intersections have been identified over a 2-km strike length.

KWG believes there are two models of mineralization at Pilar: a conventional epithermal-style stockwork system overlain by a zone of lower-grade, chemically precipitated gold. The best gold values are usually associated with quartz veining, silicification and iron oxide mineralization.

Target estimate would have us assume an SP value of 0.01 -0.02c at 95% risk weighting on a circa 50/50 JV.. That's as low as an in ground value I'd dare go and considering it's an oxide cap with a 0-100m depth profile with jorc and development profile short listed for end 2023 I'd be more than comfortable winding the risk back to wherever one feels most comfortable... Needless to say the current SP is well, perhpas a little skinny still.. GLTAH H8tey
