At the young age of only 66, my take on EVs is that in Western Australia EVs will only be useful in a metro area. Think Perth, Geraldton, Bunbury etc. Remember the smart car? That small that they sell them in packets of three like Durex condoms used to be sold. If there is an EV about the same size we will buy one for zapping around Perth and surrounds. I will keep the Prado for country trips, towing the boat, 4 x 4ing etc. I have just driven to Coral Bay which is 1200kms from Perth. An EV could not travel this distance or how we did it. I split the drive in to a 500km drive to Horrocks Beach and a 700 drive from Horrocks Beach to Coral Bay. We will do the same trip home in two weeks. All of this on 38° days when the air off the bitumen road in the engine bay is probably around 70° - 80°C. I am not sure if the EV battery could survive this for 7 - 8 hours.
