Terrible news for all involved. I hope nobody got injured or killed, but no comment from SSR on this so far.

Re-opening of processing/mining operations could take many months as Turkey officials will take a strong stand against environmental damage and any human losses/injuries. Likely to involve compo and clean up costs.

Copler operations were previously suspended for some months after an evironmental incident, but this event dwarfs the previous situation.

If Copler were not to re-open then SSR would still carry a heap of costs for it for some years.

In the meantime I suppose there are ongoing costs at Copler such as wages.

They probably will need to reconsider the immediate capex and exploration spend there as things could get out of hand should the govt take this event as an incident to remove their mining rights/operationsl rights.

If SSR can restart operations at some point then this is a buying opportunity for those that can trade on the TSX - our market is too thin now to tempt me.
