In fact, any idiot can read about every great catastrophe on the markets and financial systems during human history over the past 250 years, and how Short selling has contributed to it, and then been subsequently banned for a time, not only because of it's immoral premise, but because of it's destructive market corruption. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand this, you just need to have some common sense.
SXY would be $1.20 but for the endemic corruption and fraud of markets and the financial system, which is nothing more than a false pseudo-legitimised, powerful elitist, mafia run casino.
The system is grossly and disproportionately and dishonestly weighted against honest mom and dad investors, and all those other hard-working and tax-paying little people who enter it with the best of intentions. And there are no protections build-in within the systems to protect them.
It's a tournament of lies and deception, filled with grifters and con-men, and by a plethora of lifestyle stocks run by charlatans who should be cleaned out.
To allow funds and wealthy individuals the permission to borrow stock they don't own, and then sell it down, in a cruel fashion, in order to destroy another person's years of hard-work and business, is morally bankrupt. It's a universal truth, only disputed by those of dubious nature and intention.
