We are rowing a small boat from Sydney to Auckland. There is a pot of gold waiting for us in Auckland if we can achieve this feat as it has not been done before.
During our journey we discovered that those in charge of rowing the boat have dodgy backs, their hands blister easily and refuse to hand the oars to people more capable. They have done a stellar job to get us this far, further than anyone before them.
We have also recently discovered a large hole in the boat and we are taking on water. Further to that, we left Sydney with a sea anchor attached to our boat which we have been unable to cut loose. The sea anchor has a sign on it which says "private equity".
We can see our destination, so close and yet so far. Our boat can go no further and the sea anchor threatens to drag us under.
We have had another boat following us for the past 3 years. Our oarsmen were the only ones aware but thought not to tell us.
The boat comes along side and offers to take us all on the final destination together and share in the pot of gold.
Close to 80% of our passengers (including oarsmen) have already left our boat for the larger vessel.
Question is, do you stay on our leaky boat and possibly lose everything in the hope of a larger prize? Or, do you take the offer to end this 10 year journey safely and share in the prize?
