The big boys are getting in because none of the gold in the Hemi prospect has been forward sold. It is all in the form of pristine base money. I don't think that anyone appreciates how valuable that makes De Grey and that is why some of the big funds want in on this now. While there are dangers regarding the eventual ownership of DEG it is not yet in play because nobody knows just how valuable it will be. But rest assured, it will be very valuable.
The interesting fact is that really big positions can be accumulated by big players without blowing the share price to the moon. The liquidity in the shares of DEG is impressively deep for an explorer transitioning to a miner. Some of it is a mere trading position for the funds but others are positioning for something that is only now dawning upon the markets - a currency reset. Your standard fund manager who is long gold and short the GDX and the GDXJ are going to have to buy back those shorts, especially if gold gets another bull run up to US$2,800. Confidence in fiat currency is shaky and the endless deficits of the US government is not helping to improve confidence at all, hence the expectations for a currency reset. Government is in the process of drawing Bitcoin into the system so that it can be regulated and that will leave only gold standing as the base money. Things are going to get interesting but it will be even more interesting if DEG is actually mining and selling gold when it happens.
