If you are with Commsec and you look to the right of the screen , when you open your Portfolio to the right of the screen when your Portfolio shows green you should have the ability to margin lend, it may be under your heading of Trades awaiting settlement.

I have the ability to utilise a % of that green margin , eg if I buy another stock I can buy it from my Green/Gains but if the stock slips below my buy price the algo will sell the stock and some of my portfolio I utilized against the margin loan.. so it has no % interest but can be savage if the stock you bought or increased drops backward....

Not advice but you may want to trigger the facility when settling or striking options ... NZT
