Hi @marwood,
Yes, the appearance of a Copper presso was a surprise.
? More to come. GMN still have Claims registered for Phosphate, Nickel, and Niobium that have yet to be given the treatment.Meanwhile this GMN Copper story appears to be large in terms of distance, acreage, and apparently, quality.
There's a lot going on here. In respect of only Map 4 in this announcement, the permitting on claims shows
increased activity over the last 3 months as the table below shows.

The green rectangles in Map 4 do not enclose all of the GMN Copper tenements in the Map 4 area, and those excluded tenements could be very significant. Nevertheless, I chose to analyse the tenements around Ararendá. I had to start somewhere. The attached KML files can be downloaded dragged onto Google Earth Web ( URL ) to display the boundaries of GMN Claims around Ararendá.
There are also overlays for the Geophysics (Magnetic Analytical Signal, and Radiometric K). They can be viewed by clicking on the folders in the layer tree.
GE allows these geophysical measures to be draped over the topography in 3D.The web page ( URL) describes mechanisms that may produce IOCG deposits. Using that idea, and assuming that the intruding granite might carry Potassium and the mag.signal was due to the presence of iron, I multiplied these two geophysical measures together to produce a third overlay. The result is interesting, and checks against the major IOCG mines in South Australia, especially around the Prominent Hill Mine ( -29.719, 135.578 ).
IMO there are features in this landscape that have a blue tint. Zoom into the main square of Ararendá, you will see that the main streets are tinted blue. This feature occurs sporadically on the sealed roads throughout the district. There is some evidence of backyard Sulphate manufacture here. You will see that many of the hills around the town have the colours that can be associated with copper mineralisation.
In the southern end of this AOI near GMN 800521/2022 there is a Barrage being built across Rio Poti. Maybe there is a need for aggregate. A quarry is in operation without the benefit of a Federal Mining/Exploration Claim. The crushed rock from the quarry has a very strong aquamarine colour. While the quarry is just outside the Claim, the crushed rock is stored on the GMN tenement. A “street view” provides very close views of the rock at roadside.
The quarry is in current operation. A recent day without cloud shows equipment in place ( Sentinel 5/3/2024 ). Sentinel also shows that this activity has continued for several years ( Sentinel URL ) .
A spectacular escarpment runs north from the quarry and to the west of Ararendá. Some of the POI are at roadside at places where mineralisation is clearly visible. IMO it would be surprising if GMN did not find an economic copper resource in this district.
After all, others have, and for quite some time.
