You're right on the money as per usual, Bomber.

The following appeared in the latest Quarterly (the one you referred to) and some information in an article (dating back to 2011 but relevant to the current day and going forward) on Lake Taihu (China's 3rd largest freshwater lake which has a surface area of 2250km2 according to Wikipedia) sheds some light on the significance of CLQ's focus on the treatment of waste water which was highlighted in the recent announcement (most relevant passages from the Quarterly and the article I have made reference to are underlined below).

Clean TeQ has presented the technology and its applications to expert panels at a range of seminars in a number of northern Chinese counties and conducted test work on several surface waters for remediation. The results of the test work have been very encouraging, in particular the positive results for the removal of deleterious nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorous) from surface waters.

Local laboratory trials of the innovative CIF process at potential customers' facilities have been successful in meeting Chinese water quality regulations and economic benchmarks.

Our CIF process has been accepted with enthusiasm by representatives of the counties and we are in discussions to implement our water solutions locally.

These water treatment projects are aimed at reducing the inflow of polluted waters from industry into rivers and lakes and to upgrade the water quality of effluent discharged from wastewater treatment plants.

For two decades, the once-scenic Lake Taihu in eastern China has been choked with devastating algae blooms that have threatened drinking water for millions. Now, in a move that could provide lessons for other huge lakes worldwide, China is taking steps to restore Taihu’s ecological balance.

The central government, through its Ministry of Environmental Protection, plans to allot $155 million over the next 5 years to clean up Taihu. The ministry is now drafting a work plan. But the challenge, says Qin, will be to pinpoint sources of nitrogen and phosphorous to better stem their flow into the lake.

“Treating urban wastewater and reducing inputs from the major rivers draining into Taihu,” says Paerl, “will be key to solving the lake's excess nutrient input problems.”
