As I understand it they did the deal to gain access/control over Azercell.
It came with a production facility, which is a handy thing to have so you have guaranteed supply of product moving forward.
Leslie, in answering a question which asked if offloading the facility was always the plan or if it was opportunistic, said that it was a bit of both.
IMU were never going to say that we just wanted the Azercell but had to buy some crap facility to swing the deal.
They were always going to talk it up, just like any of us would if we were planning on flipping it.
It would be just dumb to talk down an asset if you were open to, or actively trying, to on sell it.
It was stated that our partner status made us a priority customer going forward which gets us what we require from the facility, but without the ongoing financial and management burden.
Not wanting to talk about anything but this particular deal and sticking rigidly to their scripts had my "spidey sense" tingling that there is "stuff" going on behind closed doors that they didn't want to let slip.
