Indeed Qoka - time will tell the significance, but like you I have a gut feeling we will have reason to be excited.. Nothing is really given away in the announcement, but by eye it looks way more than the 'cut-off' 2.5%.
Entirely subjective, and of course only one image, but I couldn't help myself.. lifting out the more REE-looking material from the cross-section and doing rough area calculations, it looks more like ~15% (at 700m depth!), which would be in line with the amazing resource that Mt Weld is. Unlimited, world-class supply.
Clearly I have too much time on my hands at the moment..! I've decided to take a position at Kyoto Uni starting next month, so I guess things might change..
