I don't know about being smarter but my guess as to the total depth of EIS3 is between 1900 and 2100 meters if this is indeed the deepest part of the intrusion, progress has been exceeding my expectations (Possibly working around the clock) so 50 meters/day is possible.
Normal procedure on these deep holes is to drill 50 to 100 meters beyond the "Basal Contact" to ensure we haven't encountered a false footwall and terminated to hole prematurely.
@GeoFiji comes to mind when you mentioned "Smarter People", maybe he will bless us with his opinions on the goings on .
