Sidewall cores can normally fly....I used to often hand carry a box or two of cores on domestic flights here in Australia when I was leaving a job.
I would expect the M2 cores to be lab side by now. How long to process? A good question. Since I last worked time taken for tasks like this has really stretched out. Used to be 2-3 weeks.
