I have had the idea of a tie-up or JV with Engen.
Engen was the old downstream Mobil southern africa which was dis-invested to a south african mining group and which has now been bought by Petronas, with a few ANC black oligarchs leeching on.
I know Petronas is divesting assets in northern africa, but the weight and experience of Engen may be a counter to upstream investment in southern africa.

I think Sasol will secure coal seam gas on its doorstep (RLT and KKO) before venturing into Zimbabwe.
Sasol is also discovering new gas near its Mozambique operating field which it might focus upon first;
"02 May 2023 Sasol Mozambique PT5-C, Limitada (SMPT5-C) has made a discovery of natural gas, in sandstone rocks of Lower Grudja Formation age, following the drilling of the Bonito-1 exploration well, in Area PT5-C, located in the southern part of Inhassoro District, Inhambane Province, Mozambique Basin, whose limits cover an area of about 3142 km2, between the Pande and Temane fields."
