It is possible that high pressured Nitrogen could be encountered over trapped oil deposits. Hydrocarbons have little affinity for Nitrogen. Any excess Nitrogen (ie beyond which can be incorporated in the hydrocarbons) could be be encountered as a sealing cap over any deposits. It definitely merits further investigation.
