The Xstrata acquisition (2012) of the Pedra Branca Project, which comprises 172,000ha in area with twenty-eight exploration licenses, plus the Pedra Branca deposit itself, placed AVB on my list. The clincher IMO was the 2015 funding and consequent register make-up (no concerns at all re SOI).

To obtain equity funds for the AN build totally out of cycle was as good as it gets, I did fear a lengthy delay or worst, grasped roughly by the proverbial bankers covenants, however and happily so, it was much less painful, and we successfully placed our basecamp. Great time to buy any copper I think.

As you know my view is that copper is most definitely cyclical and that in all probability early 2016 saw it’s low in this cycle, we can never be absolutely sure on this, however long copper is again on the burner with some industry players. My own views are that copper will see some stress on supply about this time next year and I have never subscribed to the death of China, copper being a financial instrument has always been very capable of putting on some big gains out of the blue, which will effect all players positively, well almost all players, shorts may not be as happy.

Absolutely - I sometimes wonder if people "out there" - some analysts + journos - really do understand the concept of compound growth. The double digit growth that China was getting in 2003-2004 or (whenever it was) was coming on top of a GDP figure much lower than today's - where we are still seeing very nice GDP growth numbers on a much bigger "base".

I DO worry about a few things in China - property and the banking system and these "instruments" that look very much like 2008's CDOs but I also here that China is building another railway system amongst any number of other infrastructure projects.

Where copper sits in all of this, I don't profess to know, but I find it hard to imagine copper being in the doldrums forever........
