The Miya developers have a good model in that they can come in with beta software and demonstrate how they incorporate existing data streams and much like the existing databases they can become mission critical before charging however its a slow, painful and risky way to operate.

Yep, I can relate... I get that all the time... The software I sell is specialised, IT usually come back to me say "Oh we have no time, we didn't realise its that intense", "Uhmm Its done but we couldn't add the same features as your software" or the classic "We started, but yeah, too hard... Can you use what we have already done"? Nope..... Nope... Nope....

I usually then add a 5% "piss me off" fee on top!
