my 2 cents which involves a high level of ignorance so from a distance this is what i feel re ASB.
Probably a reasonable comparison is BSL bluescope steel
Imo you can not expect these types of co's to make money in Australia for obvious reasons imo.
Bluescope established north star in the US and started to make solid profits.
Regarding Austal same business in Australia hard to make money.
Expansion into US naval industry very smart imo.
But as posted i never liked the aluminium LCS vessel and my understanding is it has been discontinued by US navy but it established ASB's US navy business.
My understanding is now ASB US will only produce steel navy boats excellent imo.
Then add what ,as posted,i believe will be a strong division in the production of virginia class fitted out sub modules for electric boats to assemble.
Another 2 years ASB should be more of a story like BSL imo with a fair bit of ignorance.
