It's not actually - there's potential dilution that adds value if and when it it comes into play eg exercising options and dilution that doesn't add value eg free shares

The oppies are in the money but if the stock crashed to 1c on open and stayed there until the oppies expired, the potential dilution wouldn't happen at all whereas if the oppies stay in the money and get exercised they add value to the market cap in the form of cash holders give the company to exercise them

I thought dilution was dilution too until I saw tech speccy director, Alex Bajada, give away millions of .00001 shares to his advisor mates and in doing so ruining mum and dad investors and bringing down a company
